NOTE: Bear in mind that from time to time remote servers are reconfigured — for example, I recently discovered that all my phone numbers in the demo were out of date. If the demo fails, please contact me so I can repair the damage!

Because of some connection problems with the jabber server, I now test the connection every 10 minutes. In the latest test, the jabber server is status.

Step 4. Try it and See

To try this demo, log into your IM client (of course, you'll use the identity you registered). The call into the demo at +1 407 849 4854. You will be asked to state your destination city and your prefered time of departure; you will then get an instant message with the choices for your flights. You can send an IM back with the flight number — just the flight number — or you can speak the number of the flight, e.g., "ten twenty-nine" or "three three three."

Please note that I don't use real flight information! The system as presently constructed doesn't actually use a grammar built on the flight numbers; the VoiceXML 2.0 specification needs a little more work before that becomes easily implementable.

Enjoy.

(Note: Yes, I do plan to upgrade the demo — and yes, I may very well commericalize this. I f you need something like this for your business, please feel free to contact me.)
